Why Your Laptop Charger Gets Warm
A laptop charger can become noticeably warm even when it is working normally. That heat is not simply wasted power coming from the laptop. Much of it is produced inside the charger while the adapter converts electricity from the wall into the form the laptop can use. The useful question is not whether a charger produces any heat, but why its temperature changes and when that change deserves attention. A charger may run warmer when the laptop is working hard or charging an empty battery, then cool down as demand falls. Its surroundings also affect how easily that heat can escape.
