Why Your Phone Screen Can Dim When the Device Gets Hot

You can turn a phone’s brightness slider all the way up and still watch the screen become noticeably dimmer. This often happens outdoors, during navigation, while gaming, when recording video, or while charging on a hot day. The confusing part is that the brightness setting may not appear to change. The phone is not necessarily ignoring your setting or developing a display fault. It may be applying a temporary thermal limit because the device is getting too hot.
